1/16/11 Hope and Sorrow

Sorrow and Hope
By Heather Powers
1/16/11

She stands in contemplation
Bathing her thoughts in the moonlight
Her sadness bleeds through in the
Tears that fall down her face.
Her voice sings a song of sorrow
The blades of grass caress her feet
Dewdrops glistening
A whisper follows the breeze
“Do not despair…moon mother is here”
Her hands clasp together
Head bows in prayer.
A face appears when she closes her eyes.
Eyes like gold.
Lips white
A smile crinkles around the eyes.
Ghostly hands manifest and wrap
Around her shoulders.
A warmth fills her body
The sadness in her eyes recede
Hope appears.
Sorrow disappears
In the wash of the moonlight.
She closes her eyes and is finally
At peace.
